Meet Cloe, our Coritani senior who aspires to be a child care worker. Cloe is supporting our juniors during form time and is having a positive impact. She models excellent manners and engagement, which encourages our learners to follow suit. Our learners enjoy welcoming Cloe to the class and explaining the task to her which is promoting excellent communication skills for all. Cloe is an excellent role model to our learners and demonstrates the Coritani mindset in action.

Coritani was visited by Prison, Me? No way! Humber class paid a visit to the mobile cell and were told about life in prison. 23 hours in a cell, being told when to eat, exercise and call home. They did not like the idea of having a toilet next to their bed and would not want to share a cell with a stranger. Our visitor discussed many of the restrictions on prisoners, including not being able to put your hands in your pockets. A valuable experience for all.

Beware the Jabberwocky. Oh sorry, we mean the Lee beasts. Humber class have used their English text, The Jabberwocky, to inspire their monster creations and poetry writing. They used their imaginations to conjure up some frightful beasts before creating warning posters to describe them. The learners then put on their poet hats and created revolving rhymes about the beasts, featuring rhyming and nonsense words. The learners will now edit their work to be published in the Humber Class Book of Beasts. What a frightful read!

This annual event was once again a huge success giving our learners the chance to compete against some amazing athletes who have overcome adversity and use team sport as a great way to get together with others and have fun. The positivity was infectious and our learners and staff were exhausted after such an energetic session. We definitely have some future sports stars at Coritani!

As they sipped on delicious frappes and devoured the home-made biscuits, the learners immersed themselves in a world of books, exploring various genres that sparked their imaginations and expanded their knowledge. The cosy environment provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and socialising, allowing the learners to bond over shared interests.

It was a wonderful blend of intellectual stimulation and casual enjoyment, fostering a love for reading while encouraging meaningful connections among peers. The experience not only sparked a passion for reading but also created lasting memories proving that learning can be both fun and refreshing.

Last week students visited Twin Tigers Boxing Academy for a couple of rounds of boxing.  Students did fantastically well, developing new techniques and abilities as well as experiencing a new environment.

Boxing is a dynamic sport that requires students to apply strength, agility, speed and endurance. Effectively, students have the opportunity to take part in a physically demanding activity that will improve an individual’s cardiovascular health, muscular strength, general physical fitness as well as improving mental wellbeing.

Our week has shown that students are ready to apply themselves to the best of their ability. There were definitely a few stars in the making.
