Year 11 learners spent the day in York, taking photographs and inspiring creativity for their GCSE Art and Photography externally set exams. Learners wandered down the historic Shambles that feature medieval buildings, some dating back to the 14th century. We had lots of time to photograph York Minster, the market place and local old ruins, taking in the atmosphere to help inspire their art. We had a lovely time at the Cat Café and learners were able to pet and take photographs of the many feline residents.

Recently Key Stage 3 and 4 learners visited Doncaster Racecourse to take part in the Maths Racing to School Day. We took part in various real-life mathematical activities such as Parade Ring Possibilities and the Weighing Room. We even got to go on the racecourse and see the horses before we watched them race. A brilliant careers trip that opened a new world to many of our students. Well done team Coritani.

On Friday 1^st March, Humber class attended the performance of 'Charlie Cook's Favourite Book' at the Plowright Theatre. Learners were entertained by energetic songs, dancing characters and amazing puppets. Learners smiled from ear to ear at the arrival of each new character, and  enjoyed venturing out of school with the adults and they all gave the performance a score of 100 out of 10. Our quote of the day came from one learner was; 'I thought that the theatre was bad but now I know that I love it.'

Recently Key stage 3 and 4 learners visited Nottingham to watch A Christmas Carol, this Dickens’ classic is an important part of the English Literature GCSE programme.  We started with a visit to the Caves to learn about the history of Nottingham and its early settlements.  We were lucky to have front row seats to watch Keith Allen’s irreverent take on Scrouge but it was at heart a story about the ghosts.  We left ready for Christmas and ready for studying English Literature.

We were thrilled to share the exciting cinema trip experience with our KS2, KS3 and KS4 learners! This time, our eager students embarked on a journey to watch "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," creating lasting memories and expanding their horizons.

The cinema outing wasn't just about entertainment; it was a valuable opportunity for our students to develop life skills in a safe and respectful environment. For many, this marked their first cinema experience, allowing them to explore the magic of the big screen and fostering a love for storytelling. The joy and enthusiasm radiated as our learners embraced the cinematic atmosphere, showcasing readiness to engage and learn beyond the classroom. We are proud to witness our students evolving into well-rounded individuals, with each cinema trip contributing to their growth and development.

Coritani was represented by two amazing learners in Scunthorpe’s Remembrance Sunday March to the cenotaph.  Megan a member of the Army cadets, and Lydia, a musician in the Air cadets. They were well drilled, practised and ready to march.
