CEO's Update

They do say that as you get older time seems to pass more quickly, and unfortunately, I think I have reached that age now, as it doesn’t seem like 5 minutes ago that I was writing a few words for last years end of year Trust newsletter.  I always find it tricky to be original as by doing so would mean that I didn’t mention the key events that occur without fail at this time of year; staff leaving for new roles in new schools; staff retiring; Year 6 pupils celebrating SATs results; Year 11 and Year 13 students nervously waiting for exam results and students moving on to next steps (both in and out of the Trust).

For those moving on we send our best wishes and thanks for being part of the IET family and hope that you are successful and happy in the future, whatever that holds.  For those awaiting exams results, we all remember that feeling of anticipation and dread and know that your hard work will have paid off, whilst also acknowledging that exam results are not the only thing that define us.

If you are back in September, to do it all again (but even better!), I look forward to being a part of that journey and supporting another amazing year of learning and development.

I hope that you have a fantastic summer.

Principal's Update

Can you believe it is the end of another year at Coritani? And what an amazing year it has been.

From visits to London in the Autumn term, to parties for a King in the Spring and the odd trip to outer space (in the explorer dome) along the way.

More important to celebrate however have been the individual achievements of all of our children, not least the Year 6 and Year 11 learners who have sat  their exams this year.  Regardless of the outcomes you achieve when they arrive you should all be very proud of your efforts in  taking every single exam and trying your best in them all - we certainly couldn't be more proud of you.

We held an awards day in June with Glanford Park providing the backdrop for families, learners and staff to come together and celebrate achievement in all its forms.  You can read more about the day in the letter below and about our end of year celebration at Flamingo Land.

Good luck to our Year 6 , 11 and other learners who will be moving on to new  schools and colleges in the Autumn term . We look forward to seeing everyone else back on the 5th of September.

Enjoy the summer holidays when they arrive.

Respectful of the Earth
To celebrate world Earth day Coritani learners visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park.  We started learning about the planet we live on in the Explorer Dome and had the chance to see the diversity and beauty of animals from all over the planet.  The weather wasn’t kind but it...

Inspiring Celebration
Our annual social trip to mark the changing of the school year was enjoyed by excited learners and staff.  Never before has so few adults been forced on so many rides by young people.  The sun shone but we were all safe with sun lotion and caps.  The water ride was an essential visit...

Respecting Art
Visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site, year 9 and 10 had an Art and Photography filled day this term in Saltaire, Bradford. Learners had the fantastic opportunity to visit one of the largest collections of David Hockney’s art, including ‘A Year in Normandie’, a 90m long frieze th...

Inspiring Excellence
On Wednesday 17th May, four of our learners represented Coritani in the Humber Quadkids athletics competition. Four events saw our learners (and the staff) jumping with all their might, sprinting across the finish line and throwing howlers to the heavens. Everyone participated in every event and whe...

Celebrating Excellence
It was fantastic to see our leavers at the awards lunch at Glanford Park in June.  To be able to celebrate the many successes that we have seen throughout their journey with us at Coritani made it a really special event.  The learners should be so proud of what they have achieved as indeed...

Inspiring Excellence with the Wheelers
After the success of our venture into wheelchair basketball during Empathy Week, it returned by popular demand, so popular the learners were willing to stop after school to get involved. After a series of drills and relays, ball dribbling skills were introduced and then we had some highly competitiv...

Ready and Respectful
As the country prepared to welcome a new King, all at Coritani were ready to celebrate.  During the week we looked at facts about the monarchy and our democracy so the learners knew this was an important event for Great Britain. In a week of showers and storms the sun came out and so did the ac...
